Aurora threatens to cut ties with Denver Police Department

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 21:18:29 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora may soon cut ties with the Denver Police Department. The two agencies have an agreement to help each other during extraordinary circumstances. But now, Aurora claims the deal is unfair. "Colorado Point of View" took a closer look at the issue in this week's episode. The issue is not about day-to-day crime but about those large, few-and-far-between events where one city needs a lot of help from the other — in this case, the 2020 protests. United Airlines agrees to give union pilots big pay raises Denver Police asked Aurora to send officers to help, and now some of them are being sued by protesters. Aurora argues because Denver was in charge, with out-of-town officers following Denver’s commands, Denver should be responsible to defend those officers in court. Unless Denver agrees to that, Aurora has threatened not to send help going forward. What an end to Denver-Aurora police agreement could meanFOX31 legal analyst George Brauchler, who was the district attorne...

The Mets were not counting on being able to use him off the bench.“Let’s see if, as the day progresses, he’ll be available or not,” said manager Buck Showalter.Tommy Pham also received a day off due to the groin tightness he felt last weekend in San Diego. Justin Turner extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a pair of doubles, a run and RBI, and Triston Casas homered for the second time in the series. At 112.1 mph and 425 feet, the rookie’s 11th home run of the year was the farthest and hardest-hit ball of the game.By game’s end, the Cubs had tallied 12 hits and four walks and held the Red Sox to six and three. Even when you’re just an occasional skier, you choose a “home spot” in each state you ski. You may wander here and there, but your own “personal” ski town is the one you’ keep coming back to, where faces are familiar and everything just clicks. For me, that spot is Ludlow, Vt.Ludlow stole my heart, and has had it for decades.I woke up recently to news coverage of water churning right down the Main Street of Ludlow’s downtown; huge rocks and rivers of mud changing the landscape, roadways and buildings up by the ski area access road, and insane rapids picking up cars and tossing them along the riverside throughout town.Ludlow, and so many cities and towns in wonderful Vermont, is in crisis.I think of all my favorite places with worry: Mojos Café, where vinyl records are the backdrop as you nosh on Mexican food in the most casual setting you can imagine; the owners always, always there and remembering guests who’d visited just once. They’d pushed their way through the pandemi...
